Reflections From Up The Slope On Eleanore

I’m quite certain the last time I’ve made any serious revisions was when my nephew was born. He’s 3 now—and the world is certainly no longer the same one in which he entered.

But I think about how much he’s changed in that short amount of time and I think about how much I’ve changed. My body, mind, and spirit have certainly taken hits but through it all I am reminded of the love I have surrounding me. We shed our former selves many times in this one life, and I firmly believe the current you is the one most adept at taking on the opportunities and challenges that come your way.

I love the city more than I ever have. Los Angeles, with its countless neighborhoods and unique ecosystems that both help and hinder the landscape it sits on. From the canyons of the northeast side where you can see the sunrise, to the blue beaches along the coast where the sun sets and a new day begins, so does my admiration and vast curiosity for this metropolitan.

I’ll spare the two years update; This week has been better and next week is already looking up. I’ll leave you with some bars from one of my fav OG rappers Lupe Fiasco

"That case in the court did not defer the dream
I am still a raisin in the sun, raging against the machine”
